This outstanding example of a Modern house was designed by Joyce Lowman in 1971 for her own use. The detached house retains its original design and character and can either be configured with two bedroom house and two reception rooms or three bedrooms and one reception room. There is also an integral garage that could easily be converted into further accommodation. There is also a small private and secluded garden to the rear of the property. Largely due to extensive glazing and Lowman’s design, the house lets in an abundance of natural light.

It is well known architects often carry out their best work when they are their own clients and this is clearly the case with this property. One of the few houses that she designed, Lowman was best known for her design of high-end apartment blocks in her native South London. These blocks, many of which were designed for the renowned developer Frank Pullen, are still well regarded today as examples of well designed high density housing. Aside from her design work, Lowman was a renowned Le Corbusier scholar, publishing a number of important articles and essays on the architect’s work.

The house can be found on White Lodge, a peaceful cul-de-sac in an elevated position that offers far-reaching views. The house is short distance to central Crystal Palace, Streatham and West Norwood, all of which have a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities.  Local
transport links include Gipsy Hill, West Norwood and Norbury Stations (National Rail)
and Crystal Palace Station (East London Line).

Please note that all areas, measurements and distances given in these particulars are approximate and rounded. The text, photographs and floor plans are for general guidance only. The Modern House has not tested any services, appliances or specific fittings — prospective purchasers are advised to inspect the property themselves. All fixtures, fittings and furniture not specifically itemised within these particulars are deemed removable by the vendor.
