This 4 / 5 bedroom house is an exceptional example of a Modern house designed by the noted London-based architects Archplan. Set on a beautiful 2.8 acre rural site, it is located close to the historic town of Farnham, Surrey.

The design of the recently-completed house, which incorporates a remarkable indoor pool that opens up to the garden, features floor-to-ceiling glass throughout that gives remarkable views of the lawns and woodland beyond. Clearly echoing the seminal Case Study houses built in California in the 1950s, as well as the best works by Mies van der Rohe, the design by Archplan is an elegant and considered response to its natural setting. Internally, much consideration has been given to detailing such as the polished concrete floors and polished plaster walls. The exterior of the house is clad in Indian slate on the facades that face the road, whilst the rear facade is almost entirely composed of Fineline glass.

Accommodation on the ground floor includes four bedrooms (all with en suite bath / shower rooms), a living room with open hearth and wonderful views across the gardens and a large kitchen / dining room that opens out onto a decked terrace. A remarkable integral swimming pool, with a small changing room, can also be found on the ground floor. Large doors open up to the gardens at either end of the pool, allowing what is an indoor pool to become open to the outside. The lower ground floor consists of large room that could be used as a bedroom, a second reception room or office area. There is also a large store room on this floor.

The property is approached via a gravel driveway which leads to the front of the house, where there is ample parking. The garden lies principally behind the house and are mainly laid to lawn. The lawns are bordered by natural woodland which provide a great deal of privacy.

The house is located off Gardeners Hill Road, a country road approximately two miles from the centre of Farnham. Surrounded by woodlands and close to the ancient heathlands of Frensham Common, this is a great example of a property that is in a rural setting yet close to the local services. The historic town of Farnham has a train station that runs services to London in 53 minutes, a range of outstanding schools (both state and private) and excellent shopping and dining facilities. Farnham is routinely listed as one of the most desirable to live beyond London, with a recent article in The Telegraph describing it as “a bustling town, with plenty of green space and rich in Georgian architecture”. The house is also within walking distance of the villages of Rowledge and Frensham, both of which have village shops and country pubs.
