Splendidly set within a mixed, mature garden, this
single-storey detached home was built for an artist
in 1968. Thought to have been designed by a local Suffolk
architect, the house is located close to the centre
of the attractive village of Cavendish.
This enchanting house has two bedrooms, a large central
living area and a further glass-fronted room that is
currently being used as a studio. The house also has
a kitchen, a bathroom and a hallway space that leads
into the living room.
Planning consent has been recently obtained to construct
a partial first floor extension to the house, providing
additional accommodation. The extension proposals have
been designed by the architect Jeremy Eldridge and are
entirely in keeping with the existing appearance of
the house.
The property is set back at a discreet distance from
the village road and a short drive provides space for
car parking. Silver birch, cherry and pine trees give
the house privacy to the front while willows, a long
lawn and a great variety of shrubs and well stocked
beds make up the garden to the rear. There is also a
stream, crossed by a footbridge, which runs through
the garden.
Cavendish is a picturesque Suffolk village with village
green, country inns and a small local shop. London can
be reached by rail from either nearby Sudbury station
or, for a faster service, from Colchester.
The house is located on Poole Street, a village road that leads directly to the centre of Cavendish (a few minutes walk away). Cavendish boasts the widely renowned inn, The George, which offers superb food and accommodation. Cavendish can be found on the southern edge of Suffolk, close to the popular towns of Clare (2 miles) and Sudbury (8 miles). Long Melford, a village famed for its antiques shops, is also nearby (4 miles). Trains from Sudbury run to London Liverpool Street, with journey times of just over an hour.
